EMBER (Embodied, Mindfulness-based Emotional Resilience) is an evidence based twelve-week resilience program geared toward folx who are rebuilding their lives after trauma. Shamanic Sound Bath Experience

Shamanic Sound Bath Experience

Join GIVE Yoga's guest, shamanic practitioner Maria Cataland, for an evening of meditation, intentional breathing, and sacred sound healing. Sound and breath are some of the most fundamental ways to retrain the brain/body connection and gently activate healing within. Every person experiences something different during sound healing and benefits often include: deeper relaxation/rest, nervous system reset, reduced stress, lowered blood pressure, intuitive visions, heightened states of awareness, connections with loved ones who have crossed over, and more.

The evening will begin with guided meditation and breath work to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. This helps prepare the body for the journey of rest and reset. Meditation is immediately followed by the playing of crystal singing bowls tuned to 432 HZ.(the tone of the Universe). These frequencies support the transition of our brainwaves from the beta state of the every day and into theta state where we experience deep healing, shamanic journeying, and overall transformation.

All are welcome and we invite you to dress comfortably. Participants will be laying down for the majority of the experience and are welcome to bring items that help you feel supported and cozy. A yoga mat, eye covering, extra blankets, and a small pillow are recommended (not required). Blankets and bolsters are available for use at the studio.

We can't wait to share this wonderful experience with you.

Each class includes mindfulness and meditation, breathing exercises, and a gentle flowing and restorative yoga sequence designed to support you and your baby. We will review poses to alleviate common pregnancy aches/pains as well as poses to proactively strengthen and stabilize your changing body throughout pregnancy. Classes start with a brief group check-in with the chance to ask questions, share, and connect with other expecting parents.

Participants receive:

  • Six 90-minute classes at GIVE yoga

  • A prenatal yoga practice guide with suggested poses for common pregnancy aches and pains

  • An overview of three breathing techniques to support labor and delivery

  • Four recorded guided meditations

  • Recommendations on essential oil use during pregnancy

  • Supplementary book and article recommendations to support your practice

FAQ’s:

  • When is the best time to take this series? This series is designed to be suitable at all stages of pregnancy. If you have been practicing yoga for a while and are enjoying taking your usual yoga classes, some women choose to do that and join in their second or third trimester when they are ready to slow things down; however, many feel most comfortable starting with a prenatal-specific class right away. There are usually women in class at all stages, some who take the series twice!

  • Do I need yoga experience? No. All levels of experience are welcome.

  • Can I still join if I missed the first class or have to miss a couple of the classes? Yes! This series can be joined late but can only be purchased as a series, at full cost.

  • Can I participate in this series more than once? Yes! You are more than welcome to take this series again and can do so at a reduced rate of $100.

Mobility Flow Series

to Oct 29

Mobility Flow Series

THE SERIES

Mobility and flexibility are words often used interchangeably, and we will dig into why/how these are two separate abilities/functions of the body, exploring the difference between passive and active range of motion. Each week we will articulate a specific joint or joints, exploring your passive flexibility vs. your active range of motion. Think of it as weight training for your joints!

This is a short series so we won’t hit ALL joints, but we’ll touch on the heavy hitters. We’ll start each class moving through passive stretches, integrated mobility strengthening in the specific joint we are targeting, and then incorporate what we’ve learned into a mobility/yoga flow. Each class will be 90 minutes long depending on the class content for the week.

As humans, we are designed to move in every which way. Common myths we’ll debunk:

  • Don’t let your knee move past your toes

  • Don’t round your spine in a forward fold (flat back)

  • Don’t squeeze your glutes in a bridge pose

  • “Bad” posture when you’re working at your desk (spoiler alert: there is no bad posture, but your body will adapt to its most common position and for the majority of us, that is sitting down, chin thrusted forward, shoulders rolled forward with a curve in your spine).

This series is for anyone who wants to increase their understanding of how the body functions and optimize joint health in order to move and feel better.

These will be active and challenging classes, and you will need to be able to get up and down from the floor frequently.  Your muscles will be sore and charley horses will happen.  Expect to challenge your active range of motion in all the major joints of your body.

Logistics | 5 Week Series

  • Sat, Oct 1, 11am | Knees

  • Sat, Oct 8, 11am | Hips - internal/external rotation

  • Sat, Oct 15, 11am | Shoulders

Location: Clintonville Upstairs Studio

Facilitator | Jenny Coffey, RYT 200

Jenny has been a yoga practitioner since 2006 and received her 200-Hour certification in 2015. Her passion is Vinyasa Yoga and connecting movement to breath.

Three years ago, Jenny was in the midst of a battle with chronic tennis elbow; she was in pain and it affected most aspects of her life, from typing on a keyboard at work, to lowering into a chaturanga on her yoga mat. It was during this time that she signed up for classes with mobility specialist Hunter Cook, the creator of Functional Range Conditioning. This led her to participate in a mobility-focused training with Matt Phippen of the Movement Method, and her eyes were opened to the importance of consistently moving/strengthening our joints, moving joints through their entire range of motion, and understanding why this is different from passive stretching.

Investment | $25 per class, or $110 for the series
